An essay about a writer's mother tongue of Tamazight, translated from English to Spanish by Natalia Restivo

Natalia Restivo is a translator for Global Voices in Spanish. Her translation into Spanish of the Arabic-language story “تعال أحدثك عن لغتي الأم: الأمازيغية” — using as a bridge the English-language translation “Come, let me tell you about my mother tongue: Tamazight” — has been nominated for the Lingua Translation Spotlight.

Once a quarter, Lingua Translation Managers select one or two outstanding translations that deserve a special round of applause. Gabriela García Calderón Orbe, the Spanish Lingua Translation Manager at Global Voices, commented:

Natalia managed to transmit the feeling the author had for his mother language, Amazigh [Tamazight], which he learned from his mother. Natalia crafted the words in a way that the translation fully conveys the pride and the love the author has for his language.

Excellent work, Natalia! Take a look at her translation on the Global Voices in Spanish website:
