An explanation of why WANA is the preferred regional term, translated from English to Arabic by Maisa Mutahar

Maisa Mutahar is a volunteer for Global Voices in Arabic. Her translation of the story “From MENA to WANA: Why terminologies matter” from English to Arabic has been nominated for the Lingua Translation Spotlight.

Once a quarter, Lingua Translation Managers select one or two outstanding translations that deserve a special round of applause. Rami Alhames, the Arabic Lingua Translation Manager, celebrated Maisa's contribution as the sole current contributor from Yemen and highlighted this translation as representative of Maisa's commitments to defending fundamental rights and to participating in Global Voices.
