Anastasiia Kozlovets is a volunteer for Global Voices in Ukrainian. Her translation of the story “Protests continue in Georgia despite police crackdown” from English to Ukrainian has been nominated for the Lingua Translation Spotlight.

Once a quarter, Lingua Translation Managers select one or two outstanding translations that deserve a special round of applause. Iryna Tiper, the Ukrainian Lingua Translation Manager at Global Voices, commented:

I am nominating this translation because it deliberately preserves the original name of the country instead of using the Russified version. While the official stance on this issue has not yet changed, I believe that language plays a crucial role in shaping our perspectives and narratives.
