A story about women's land rights in Nigeria, translated from English to Yorùbá by Àlàbí Orítóókẹ́

Àlàbí Orítóókẹ́ is a volunteer for Global Voices in Yorùbá. Her translation of the story “Despite the enactment of a law granting women the right to share in family property, Nigerian women still face barriers to land-sharing” from English to Yorùbá has been nominated for the Lingua Translation Spotlight.

Once a quarter, Lingua Translation Managers select one or two outstanding translations that deserve a special round of applause. Adéṣínà Ayẹni, the Yorùbá Lingua Translation Manager at Global Voices, praised Orítóókẹ́ for this particular translation and another because they were important contributions to reviving the Yorùbá-language site, which had fallen quiet for a time.
