Maha Kamal is a volunteer for Global Voices in Arabic. Her translation of the story “Australian Ghost Nets Art: Indigenous people turning trash into treasure” from English to Arabic has been nominated for the Lingua Translation Spotlight.

Once a quarter, Lingua Translation Managers select one or two outstanding translations that deserve a special round of applause. Rami Alhames, the Arabic Lingua Translation Manager, said this particular translation represented Maha's dedication to Global Voices — she's translated more than 100 stories since joining in 2016.
