Pierre-Emmanuel Farret is a volunteer for Global Voices in French. His translation of the story “Seeking independence from Chinese exports, Brazil enters bid to explore rare earths” from English to French has been nominated for the Lingua Translation Spotlight.
Once a quarter, Lingua Translation Managers select one or two outstanding translations that deserve a special round of applause. Fidèle Juliette Ngo Ngimbous, the French Lingua Translation Manager at Global Voices, noted that Pierre-Emmanuel is one of the most active volunteer translators on the French-language site, and the story in question examines a topic that isn't often discussed, which means it's all the more important that it be made available in French.
