The Lingua project at Global Voices works to bring down barriers to understanding through mission-driven translation.
Global Voices stories feature people and experiences rarely seen in mainstream media, and our hundreds of volunteers translate them into dozens of languages. But it’s not just about the stories. By contributing to Lingua, you develop new skills and perspectives, connect with people around the world, and help improve online language diversity.
Born in 2006, the Lingua project has worked in 50+ languages, from Amharic and Aymara to Ukrainian and Yorùbá. Learn more.
As long as you have a willingness to learn and solid knowledge of at least two languages, you are welcome to join. Become a volunteer.
Can I choose the stories that I translate? Do you ever meet face to face? Why not just use automatic translation tools? Check out our FAQs.
